about

My life from the fashion side
I was born in Krnov, Czechia in 1991, where I grew up and studied until I was 18. In my graduation year (2009/2010 school year) I was deciding which university to go to. I chose Academy of Arts, Architecture & Design in Prague (UMPRUM) – Fashion & Footwear Design. But the competition was big and unfortunately, I was not successful. The choice was the History of Arts in Olomouc University then. I started my studies, however, studying this subject did not fulfill me and I was looking for an alternative way to get into fashion and design. I signed up for a distance learning course at the Secondary Technical School of Fashion (SPSO) in Prague – subject “Clothing”.
Of course commuting costs something, both money and time. I started to earn extra money by doing various part-time jobs. However, there was no time left to study History of Arts at university and I gave it up. I continued to work and commute to Prague for distance learning. At that time (2013), I came across the “Designer of the Year 2014” competition for young fashion designers announced by the National Chamber of Fashion of the Czech Republic. I immediately applied, sent them my designs and waited for the reaction, which came soon – I made it to the final and then achieved the 2nd place! That’s how my cooperation with the National Chamber of Fashion began.
All the events that were happening in Prague forced me to finally move there in 2014. However, instead of having more time saved from commuting, I started running out of time because of the work that I was doing for living. In addition, at that time I already started working on my first mini clothing line, which then came out in September 2015. This was followed by a mini coat collection in November 2015. So I basically had 2 jobs and 1 distance learning at the same time. Something had to give way. And unfortunately it was the study. But those 3 years gave me a lot and I am grateful for them.
To the success in the competition in 2013, I added another success in 2016 – 1st place in the competition of the National Chamber of Fashion “Fashion Design Talent” in the category non-professional designer under 30 years old. Furthermore, in 2016, I made it to the TOP 10 European young designers in the “European Fashion Talent Design Competition” organized by Serbia Fashion Week.
All my fashion designing activities have been very financially demanding and yes, I admit, I have run into financial problems. The more money I spent on fashion, the more I had to earn at work. Eventually, I had to moderate my spending and work harder to get myself out of the financial problems. Sadly, that took a lot of my free time and I was not that active in designing.
Clothes were in my storage, art supplies too. The work took over the time and the desire to create. It was a job where I created, but something else – tours, vacations, events. But it was still creative work. Sadly, when I was good at it, Covid came and the whole industry went down. Fortunately, I got the opportunity to work at BlueMed Technology with medical devices. Completely different, but very convenient at the time. I worked my way up to management, where I still work today.
Covid and the managing position gave me something – more of free time. I started to have time again to devote myself to designing clothes, sewing and creating. For almost 2 years I have been dedicated to individual creation, recycling old clothes and material, following trends and studying new things. And I enjoy it again!
